The Better Principle at the Sink
We applied our Triangle of Trade-offs to engineer a bottle wash that actually cuts through thick milk fats without resorting to industrial degreasers. Conventional dishwashing liquids almost always rely on aggressive sulphated surfactants (like SLES) to create a massive mountain of bubbles, and synthetic perfumes that cling stubbornly to plastics. This means your baby’s teats and bottles can end up tasting like artificial soap. That is a hard pass from us.
Instead, we formulated a hypoallergenic base using mild, coconut- and sugar-derived cleansers (like decyl glucoside and cocamidopropyl betaine). They naturally break down breastmilk and formula residue, eliminating cloudy films and sour odours. The result is genuinely clean, residue-free feeding equipment achieved with simple, earth-safe ingredients.
The Facts (Why It Works)
- The Displacement Factor: Our bottles are made entirely from already-recycled PCR plastic. When you're done, the bottle, cap, and label are all fully recyclable.
- Targets Milk & Grease: Plant-derived cleansers specifically target thick milk fats, formula residue, and dried baby food.
- Hypoallergenic & Skin Safe: Exceptionally gentle on your hands during those endless rounds of bottle washing.
- Two Pure Profiles: Choose from completely Fragrance-Free or Fresh Citrus (scented entirely with natural grapefruit essential oil, known for its antibacterial properties).
- Zero Nasties: Strictly free from SLES, parabens, artificial fragrances and dyes, phosphates, phthalates, formaldehyde, and alcohol.
- Earth & Animal Approved: 100% biodegradable, greywater safe, and septic tank friendly. Vegan and never tested on animals.
- Concentrated: Delivers 30–45 washes per recyclable bottle.
How to use
Always shake well before use. Add 1 tablespoon of the wash under hot, running water. Wash items thoroughly to remove all visible milk film and food residue, then rinse completely with clean water. Important: Washing removes dirt and milk fat, but it does not sterilise. Always sterilise bottles, teats, and breastfeeding equipment after washing according to the manufacturer's instructions. Note: Because this is a completely natural product, slight inconsistencies in color or natural settling might occur - just give it a quick swirl.
The Complex Bit
Here is the full, unfiltered list of exactly what goes into our bottles.
Scent Free: Water (Aqua), cocamidopropyl betaine, decyl glucoside, glycerin, xanthan gum, citric acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate.
Fresh Citrus: Water (Aqua), citrus paradisi (grapefruit) peel oil, cocamidopropyl betaine, decyl glucoside, glycerin, xanthan gum, citric acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate.
Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve heard natural soaps sometimes leave a cloudy milk film on bottles. How do I make sure all the residue is gone? Let’s be radically honest: breastmilk and formula are heavily loaded with complex, sticky fats and proteins that naturally want to cling to plastic. Commercial dish liquids use aggressive industrial degreasers to violently strip these fats away with virtually zero effort. Because we use gentle, plant-derived cleansers, our wash absolutely will break down those milk fats, but it needs a little help from physics—namely, heat and friction.
If you want squeaky-clean, crystal-clear bottles using a natural soap, here is the scientifically proven method:
-
The Pre-Rinse: Always rinse empty bottles immediately with cold or lukewarm water. Blasting leftover milk with scalding hot water right away actually "bakes" the milk proteins directly into the plastic, creating that cloudy film.
-
Heat & Friction: When it is time to actually wash, use hot water, our Bottle & Dish Wash, and a dedicated bottle brush. Natural cleansers aren't harsh chemical strippers; they need the mechanical friction of a brush and the heat of the water to fully grab onto the heavy milk fats and lift them off the plastic.
-
Avoid Cold Soaks: Soaking milky bottles in cold, soapy water won't work with natural surfactants. A quick, hot scrub is all it takes to guarantee no cloudy residue and no toxic chemicals on your baby's gear!
Why doesn't the citrus scent linger on my baby's bottles after washing? Let’s be radically honest: you absolutely do not want your baby’s milk tasting like grapefruit. Commercial dish soaps use synthetic chemical binders (like phthalates) to artificially "glue" fragrances to plastic so the smell lingers for weeks. We use pure grapefruit essential oil because it has natural antibacterial properties and smells uplifting while you wash, but it is designed to rinse away completely. No chemical residue, no soapy-tasting teats, and no artificial flavours in your baby's milk.
Why doesn't this foam up into a massive mountain of bubbles? Massive bubbles are a chemical illusion. Commercial soaps use cheap, harsh sulphates specifically to create huge foam, tricking you into thinking it's working better. We use mild, plant-derived cleansers. You get a gentler, smaller lather that cuts through milk fat perfectly without drying out your hands or leaving a toxic film on your dishes.
Do I still need to sterilise my bottles if this wash is so effective? Yes! Washing and sterilising are two entirely different steps. Our Bottle & Dish Wash is highly effective at cleaning—meaning it removes the physical grease, milk proteins, and food residue that bacteria love to feed on. However, to fully sanitise feeding equipment for a baby, you must still run the cleaned items through your microwave/steam steriliser or boiling water afterwards.
